Abstract:

We comment a recent result of Mr A.V. Borovik, making explicit its dependence on the famous Theorem of Borel and Tits on abstract isomorphisms of algebraic simple groups, considered from a model-theoretic point of view. As a by-product, we obtain a description of the automorphisms of finite order of a simple algebraic group (over an algebraically closed field), based on general arguments from Model Theory.
